This blog post is a sequel to last month’s post as I continue to highlight my remaining two Mission Statements at this stage in my life:
- Cherish kindhearted CONNECTIONS
- Cultivate compassionate GROWTH
- Contribute meaningfully to MEDICAL SCIENCE & SOCIETY
To CULTIVATE compassionate growth, I aim to continue fostering both personal development and a deep sense of compassion for myself and for others. I also wish to cultivate a sense of care for the world and future generations. Some steps I plan to take, and some on-going growth strategies include:
- Practice self-compassion
- Develop emotional awareness
- Cultivate empathy
- Engage in lifelong learning
- Foster a growth mindset
- Serve and inspire others
- Create meaningful goals
- Build a supportive community
Over the course of time, I have learned that I could inspire others by sharing my growth to motivate others to embark on their own compassionate journeys. By consistently integrating these practices into my life, I would create a foundation for compassionate growth that nurtures both my well-being and my ability to positively impact the lives of others.
My last mission statement relates to an inner drive to contribute to a greater cause! As a PA-C, I currently work full-time in a clinical setting encountering patients and volunteer in a Wellness Center teaching principles of lifestyle as medicine. It has been a rewarding profession for which I deeply care about with every encounter of new or familiar patients and their families. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve fellow human beings in their health and well-being journeys! This may sound like I am already contributing “meaningfully to medical science and society.” But wait… there are days I still don’t feel this is the case or “not enough” to share on a larger scale. I have had a sense of lacking in personal contributions to the medical community when it comes to my research or publications in medical science. Therefore, while embracing my journey during my current pursuit of the Doctor of Medical Science Doctoral Degree, I made a commitment to go back into the research and write articles to publish into science journals with various topics I’m most passionate about! To share my very first published article in the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine (AJLM), I’d like to include this link here: https://journals.sagepub.com/share/KDIXAQFIVRJS73Q9ZGQN?target=10.1177/15598276241292605
This was a humbling experience, and I am thankful for the opportunity to publish my very first review article into a well-respected Journal. Honorable thanks to A.T. Still University – Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) Program for all the guidance and resources as I continue my learning journey and contribute to the medical community along the way. It has been one of my best decisions made in 2024… embarking onto my next life chapter as I pursue my Doctoral Degree!!
I could not have made this much progress or even continue fulfilling my big Missions alone. I owe it to all my loved ones (family & friends), teachers and mentors along the way… for believing in me and for cheering me forward. I am forever grateful for the kindhearted connections I have made and will continue to cherish🙏🏼🫶🏼
